A high-tech manufacturing company with a central Indiana footprint wants to build its corporate headquarters and warehouse in Greenwood, and the company already has plans to expand the 100,000-square-foot building twice in the next five years. Lionshead Precision Metals, LLC, which had a facility on the south side of Indianapolis, wants to build a new facility further south, in southeast Greenwood, directly east of Interstate 65 near Stop 18 Road. The city’s Advisory Plan Commission recently approved a rezone of about 28 acres to heavy industrial from suburban fringe for construction of the facility, and sent a favorable recommendation to the city council, which followed suit, unanimously approving the rezone last week. In order to do that, city officials had to remove the property from the I-65/Worthsville Overlay Zone, which does not allow for manufacturing facilities in that area.
